Sensorcon Factory Calibration & Rebuild Service
Built to be rebuilt. Designed to last for years, not just until the sensor wears out.
Most portable CO detectors are thrown away when the sensor reaches the end of its life. Sensorcon detectors are different: the manufacturer will calibrate them for $49 or rebuild them with a brand-new sensor for $69, as many times as you need.
That means the price you pay today isn't the whole story. Here's what owning one actually costs.
What a Sensorcon Costs Over 6 Years
| Sensorcon Inspector Portable CO Detector (Classic, 1-year warranty) | $154 |
| Factory rebuild at year 2 (new sensor, battery, calibration, 2-year warranty) | $69 |
| Factory rebuild at year 4 (new sensor, battery, calibration, 2-year warranty) | $69 |
| Total over 6 years (about $48.67 per year) | $292 |
The CO sensor typically lasts about two years, so two rebuilds carry the detector through six years. Example based on current CODetectors.com and Sensorcon prices; does not include shipping, taxes, or optional calibrations between rebuilds.

How Often Does a Sensorcon Need Calibration?
It depends on how you use it. Here's what Sensorcon recommends:
- Homeowners and personal use: Regular six-month calibration isn't required for everyday CO checks. After about two years, the detector will show EOL, which is the time to calibrate or rebuild.
- Home inspectors, HVAC technicians, fire and EMS: Every 6 months, to keep readings within the ±10% accuracy spec.
- Precision work (combustion analysis, energy audits, medical): Every 3 to 6 months.
- Safety-critical workplaces: Follow OSHA or your workplace rules, which often require daily bump tests and monthly calibration.
More detail is in Sensorcon's technical FAQ and calibration guide.
Warranty Coverage by Model
- Classic Inspector (INS series): 1-year warranty
- Inspector (INS2 series): 2-year warranty
- AV8 Inspector series: 2-year warranty
Every factory rebuild adds a renewed two-year warranty, no matter which model you own. Opening the detector yourself voids the warranty.

Can I send my Sensorcon for calibration at any time?
Yes. Calibration is a paid service you can order whenever you like. Follow the recommended intervals above for your type of use.
Do these services work on every Sensorcon model?
Yes. The $49 calibration and $69 rebuild are available for every Sensorcon Inspector model, including the Classic Inspector (INS series), the Inspector (INS2 series) and the AV8 Inspector aviation series.
Does the $49 calibration include a new sensor?
No. Calibration includes inspection, calibration, testing and battery support. If the sensor won't calibrate, Sensorcon will offer the $69 rebuild, which includes a new sensor.
Can I rebuild my detector more than once?
Yes. Sensorcon places no limit on how many times a detector can be rebuilt. Damage from negligence, such as being crushed or run over, isn't covered.
What does EOL mean on my Sensorcon?
EOL means "end of life." It appears after about two years, when the sensor reaches its expected lifespan. It doesn't necessarily mean the sensor has failed. If the detector passes calibration, the message clears and it can be used safely for another 180 days. If it fails, a $69 rebuild gives it a new sensor.
Can I calibrate my Sensorcon myself?
Yes, if you have CO calibration gas and a regulator with tubing. Sensorcon publishes step-by-step instructions. The zero step must be done in clean, fresh air, or readings will be wrong.
Who ships the detector to Sensorcon?
You do, at your own cost. Calibrations come back with free return shipping.
Are these services performed by CODetectors.com?
No. Calibration and rebuilds are performed by Sensorcon, the manufacturer. CODetectors.com sells Sensorcon detectors and links you directly to the official service programs.
