In February 2017, a commercial pilot flying a Mooney M20C ran the cabin heater throughout the day. He noticed a headache and an uneasy stomach at the end of his first flight and kept flying. Questions Pilots Ask
What does "TWA" mean?
Time-weighted average. It's your average CO exposure over a 24-hour period, so you can tell whether a day of flying added up to more exposure than any single reading showed.
Should I set the alarm lower than 35 ppm?
Some pilots set the low alarm lower for an earlier warning. Expect more alerts during taxi and run-up, when exhaust from your own airplane or others can briefly drift in.
Is this a residential CO alarm?
No. The AV8 Inspector Pro is a portable monitor for aircraft and other vehicles. It doesn't replace the UL 2034 alarms in your home.
